This page sets out the standards we hold ourselves to when writing about our work, our partners, and the communities we serve.
Consent and dignity
We never publish a photograph or name of a child, family, or community without informed consent from a parent or guardian and, where age-appropriate, the child themselves. Consent is renewed for major changes of use, not treated as permanent.
Fact-checking
Every impact number we publish is cross-checked against at least two independent sources. Every case study is verified with the individual concerned before publication.
Editorial independence
Our writing is not directed by donors or corporate partners. When a donor's contribution enabled a specific piece of work, we say so — but the framing, tone, and content of any article remain our own.
Corrections
We correct errors promptly and openly. Corrections are noted at the top of the affected article with the date of the change.
Language and framing
We do not use pity-driven language, we do not refer to people as beneficiaries, and we do not describe entire regions in the language of crisis. The people we work with are partners in their own future.
