We welcome skilled volunteers on placements from three months upwards. This page explains who we look for, how the process works, and what to expect.
The people we can actually use.
We are honest with prospective volunteers: two weeks of unskilled labour is rarely worth the airfare. What we can use is qualified people willing to stay long enough to be genuinely useful.
- Qualified teachersMaths, science, English especially. Minimum three months.
- Medical professionalsPrimary care, midwifery, paediatrics. Minimum six months.
- TradesCarpenters, electricians, plumbers, welders.
- Finance mentorsGovernance and bookkeeping support for community committees.
- CommunicationsPhotographers, writers, and documentarians for our annual reporting.

A conversation with our volunteer lead.
References and criminal background check.
Pre-departure briefing and language basics.
Arrival, paired with a local team from day one.
Questions we hear from applicants.
Three months for most roles. Six months for medical and lead teaching roles — both for safeguarding and to allow relationships to form.
Come with skills. Leave with a story you will tell for years.
